Richard Waxman is the Managing Partner of M&A Business Advisors, a full-service Business Brokerage and M&A Advisory Firm in the Western US. Richard has over 30 years of experience representing Sellers and Buyers in the CONFIDENTIAL sale of privately-owned Businesses in a wide range of industries including Manufacturing, Distribution, Service, E- Commerce, Technology, Software, Health Care, Construction, Automotive, Food & Beverage Related Businesses as well as other industries with revenues between $1M – $25M.
Richard S. Waxman has been involved with successfully selling a variety of businesses for over 30 years. Starting out in the real estate industry selling and leasing commercial/industrial property, his first business sale resulted as a duel transactions-selling a mixed use building as well as a restaurant on the ground floor.
That set him on a path to representing a number of restaurant sellers which eventually morphed into general main street business brokerage work and ultimately lower middle market businesses sales. Waxman was originally industry agnostic, but over the past fifteen years his areas of concentration have evolved to concentrations on value added service business, wholesale distribution, light manufacturing, and specialty retail. A portion of his practice still encompasses industrial real estate if the business seller is also the owner of the real property. He has also been instrumental in assisting buyers to effectively negotiate assignments of current lease, extensions and/or options for additional time on leases, or new leases needed to accommodate purchase money financing. Although of immediate benefit to the buyers, this expertise in many cases has been critical to the seller realizing their agreed upon sales price and closing on a timely basis. In short, the above breadth of experience has proven to be invaluable in assisting sellers and buyers in reaching their respective goals and objectives. In addition, Waxman also works closely with all parties to insure a smooth and productive transition period with zero post- closing issues.
He has been a presenter at the California Association of Business Brokers annual productivity conferences and received a certificate of appreciation for his work in leading a workshop on the intricacies of commercial leases
From 2002-2018 Richard was a Broker Associate with a large Business Brokerage / M&A Advisory firm and served as the managing broker of its San Francisco office for over a decade. He helped grow that office from zero associates to eighteen and made it among the most productive in a ten office network. Throughout his tenure there he was consistently among the top ten producers in a 75 associates firm, finishing on average in the top five producers the past three years, 2016-2018.
In 2018 Waxman joined M & A Business Advisors specializing in advisory, valuation, and brokerage services. He welcomes inquiries and has numerous letters of recommendation available upon request.
When not involved with business activities, he resides in Sonoma, CA with his wife and fifteen-year-old Golden Doodle where his hobbies include physical fitness and making his own wine from his backyard vineyard.
